"The 1949 Geneva Conventions: A Commentary", to receive the 2017 Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship and Utility to Practicing Lawyers and Scholars

The Executive Council of the American Society of International Law has selected "The 1949 Geneva Conventions: A Commentary", to receive the 2017 Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship and Utility to Practicing Lawyers and Scholars

As one of the contributors I am pleased to forward the following message of the editors:

We have the pleasure to inform you that the Executive Council of the American Society of International Law has selected our book, The 1949 Geneva Conventions: A Commentary, to receive the 2017 Certificate of Merit for High Technical Craftsmanship and Utility to Practicing Lawyers and Scholars. We are very grateful and would like to thank and congratulate you who wrote the book and endured our attempts to increase even further craftsmanship. We hope the book is not only useful for practitioners, but that your interpretations also guide them in their decisions, to ensure a little more humanity and coherence with all of international law in such profoundly inhumane situations as armed conflicts.

The award will be presented to us during the ASIL Assembly, which is part of the 111th ASIL Annual Meeting and will begin on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington. Andrew Clapham will represent the editors and we hope those of you present at the ASIL Annual Meeting will join.
